K7 is known for its tolerance to rust and coffee berry disease, and has been widely used in Kenya and Tanzania.  K7 was released in Kenya in 1936  by Scott Agricultural Laboratories.  The Majority of Copala coffee plantations contain a mixture of about 20% K7 and 80% SL28.  Currently 2 plantations of 3.5 ha and 5 ha, contain this variety in conjunction with SL28

It has consequently spread from Kenya, where it was originally selected in the 1930s to other parts of Africa (it is important in Arabica-growing regions of Uganda, in particular) and now to Latin America.  Currently , more than 80% of 2 plantations, 3.5 ha and 5 ha, contain this variety in conjunction with K7

This variety was originally collected from coffee forests in Ethiopia in the 1930s. It is associated with extremely high cup quality when the plants are managed well at high altitude, and is known for its delicate floral, jasmine, and peach-like aromas. A relatively small plot of 1 ha of Geisha (Gesha) trees were planted at Copala in 2022.

A cross between Timor Hybrid 832/1 and Caturra. Pedigree selection  made by the Instituto del Café de Costa Rica (ICAFE).  Recommended for acidic soils , soils rich in aluminum and warmest zones.  A relatively small plot of 1 ha of Geisha (Gesha) trees were planted at Copala in 2022 and are still in the development phase not ready for production yet.

The specific variety referred to is Yellow Catimor.  Distinctly recognizable by its all yellow cherry fruit colour.  This variety was introduced to Africa in the 1970s via Kenya.  A relatively small plot of 1 ha of Geisha (Gesha) trees were planted at Copala in 2022 and are still in the development phase not ready for production yet.
